First Full-size Quilt

Until now it's just been baby quilts and sewing projects, but last week I finished my first big quilt. The fabrics were all stolen from my mother's fabric stash back in july. I started piecing it together in September. The pattern is a Trip Around the World, though with a variation that produces an x. The quilt top was finished in time to have my mother lend a huge helping hand in finishing it (tying and binding). Thanks, mom!

Baby Quilt

I finally finished the baby quilt I started weeks ago. After seeing the quilt for my colleague, my daughter asked if I would also be making one for her teacher's baby. Okay, I said! The red and white fabric is an old dutch pattern. I had seen the directions for a shaded four patch on internet and wanted to give it a try, so paired it with the dark grey. Making windwheels just seemed like fun after that. I didn't have very much fabric, so to make the blanket bigger I added a sashing. It was also an opportunity to brighten it up a little by choosing a soft yellow gingham print.

Cynthia's Baby

My friend Ulrike and I made some presents for a former colleague of mine, Cynthia, who is a expecting a baby boy in November.
The quilt. Ulrike picked out the fabrics. I was skeptical at first, but they are so beautiful! They also ended up being the exact colors Cynthia was planning on using in the nursery.

With the scraps I made another hot water bottle cover.

New Quilting Table

My husband set me up with a new sewing table. Everything is in its place and everything is together. I love it!

Baby Room Accessories

My mom made the baby quilt made of batik fabrics, which became the inspiration for the rest of the room.
Together we jazzed up the canopy to make it match the bed.

I didn't like the lining that came in this basket, so I made a new one!

I had no pattern for making a diaper stacker, but I knew exactly what I wanted to do. I was so nervous as I got to the last couple stitches that it wouldn't work out, but it did!

Dutch babies use a metal hot bottle to warm up the bed. I made a custom cover for it.

With the left over scraps I made a crazy little night light.

Sewing Machine

My mom got me my first sewing machine. It's a Toyota SPA 15. Beautiful, simple, and quiet. I love it and am ready to start my new hobby!
